About the School of Circularity

We are a student-led non-profit organization with the mission to educate, connect, and empower students from all backgrounds to make our economy circular.

Therefore, we are raising awareness about and educating on the circular economy through educational workshops, seminars, and events. We are facilitating networking opportunities with organizations, industries, and academia involved in circular economy initiatives. Furthermore, we are empowering students to develop innovative solutions and projects in the circular economy space.

We started as a student club and are now an officially registered, student-led club. We are on our way to professionalize even more and become a non-profit learning accelerator in circular education.

The Finance Team is responsible for ensuring the financial stability and growth of our non-profit organization. We manage budgets, secure funding, and optimize financial operations to support our mission of educating, connecting, and empowering students in the circular economy. By handling financial planning, fundraising, and sponsorship management, we enable SoC to expand its impact sustainably.

  • Budgeting & Financial Management: Tracking income and expenses, ensuring financial transparency, and maintaining financial records.
  • Fundraising & Sponsorships: Identifying and securing funding opportunities, including grants, donations, and corporate sponsorships.
  • Financial Strategy & Sustainability: Developing long-term financial plans to support our initiatives and future growth.
  • Collaboration & Compliance: Working with other teams to ensure financial needs are met and aligning with legal and regulatory requirements.

Head of Finance

As Head of Finance, you will have the unique opportunity to build and shape the financial foundation of our organization from the ground up. Since our Finance Team is still in its early stages, you will play a key role in developing financial structures, budgeting processes, and fundraising strategies from scratch. Your leadership will be essential in ensuring financial sustainability and enabling our organization to scale its impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a financial strategy to ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Establish and optimize budgeting, financial planning, and expense tracking processes.
  • Identify and apply for funding opportunities such as grants, sponsorships, and donations.
  • Ensure financial transparency and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with other teams to align financial goals with organizational objectives.

Who should apply?

Students with a strong analytical mindset, an interest in finance, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This role is ideal for those who want to take ownership of a department, build processes from scratch, and make a long-lasting impact on the organization’s financial health. Prior experience in budgeting, fundraising, or financial management is a plus, but motivation and initiative are just as important.

Finance Team Member

As a Finance Team Member, you will be part of the foundational phase of our Finance Team, helping to build financial processes and strategies from the ground up. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in finance, fundraising, and sponsorship acquisition while directly shaping the way our non-profit operates financially.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in setting up and managing financial tracking and budgeting processes.
  • Support fundraising efforts by researching grants, sponsorships, and other funding opportunities.
  • Help prepare financial reports and ensure transparency in financial operations.
  • Collaborate with the Partnerships Team on securing financial support from sponsors.

⏳ Commitment & Application Process

We appreciate dedication but also understand academic commitments. The expected time investment is:

Head of Finance: ~5-7 hours per week, including leadership responsibilities.

Finance Team Member: ~3-5 hours per week, depending on tasks.
